So yes, obviously drowned in sound is doing its best 66 albums of the last 6 years (that's 2000-2006, factually speaking). They are miles away from finishing though, so I thought now would be an interesting time to speculate and throw some ideas around...
What are your favourite albums since 2000? What do you think, if trying to be objective, are the BEST albums since 2000? Er, what good albums have actually been released since 2000? (I'm struggling, see below...) Have any (OK, many) really, really great albums been released since 2002?
I'm struggling really. My favourite albums in this period are probably '100 Broken Windows' and 'We Love Life', which are both great but middling in any kind of 'all time significance' stakes.
Really great albums? 'Relationship of Command' will almost certainly be near the top of the DiS poll, which seems justified. Nick Cave's 'Abattoir Blues/Lyre of Orpheus' (Does it count? Two albums technically...) is fucking epically brilliant and probably my vote for 'since 2002'.
Hopefully people have some better ideas than me which I can then steal / agree with.

mmhmm Obviously I don't have many albums from this period. Can I say the three new Dylan albums? The first two Strokes Albums? The Kings of Leon albums? I like the first two Streets albums as well. Gosh I'm not very interesting. The two Interpol Albums? Rules for Jokers by Thea Gilmore.

The Shins - Oh Inverted World Ladytron - 604 Belle & Sebastian - Fold Your Hands Child
Chutes Too Narrow, Witching Hour and Push Barman To Open Old Wounds are all better albums by those respective artists in my opinion.
Delgados - The Great Eastern
A lost classic.

You can't have Push Barman Dave, it's not only a compilation, but a compilation on which most of the good tracks are from before 2000.
I haven't got into Witching Hour yet but I listened to 604 for the first time in ages the other day - had forgotten how bloody brilliant it is, especially when compared to the very patchy Light & Magic.

I'm not sure about the compilation aspect as the tracks aren't available on another album. You have a point about it being pre-2000 though.

As well as the artists mentioned above I imagine Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots will make an appearance.
I'd like the Beta Band to make an appearance. And Elbow, of course. You might know that I like them by now. I don't read DiS so I'm not entirely sure where their taste lies.

I suppose it's less about predicting the DiS list and more just about listing good/great albums from the last 6 years, which I'm enjoying.
Also just remembered Kid A was 2000 so that can go in too.

fever to tell, turn on the bright lights, echoes, franz ferdinand, hot fuss, up the bracket, is this it spring to mind... much as they no longer see any rotation on my stereo (i can just go to zoo na na for that), they're still decade-defining, dare i say it, *genre*-defining pop albums. i'll do a list of personal faves another time. there are lots.

The next part is out.
Good Health is better then New Romance but I agree with their selection of TVotR album, unlike most critics. And yes Arcade Fire should be higher.
Still, nice to see IMSoc represented on the list (Emily from MBICR used to write the fanzine with Abi).

Up the Bracket, Franz Ferdinand, Is This It, Turn on the Bright Lights and, although I'm aware its an ep, the yeahyeahyeahs first release.
A year ago, a would have sworn by the Lost Riots and Highly Evolved, and I still respect them. Same for Bloc Party but with less respect.
And The Others! Whos with me?!
