So the TWO NME Awards Tours this year are about to be announced, and I can't believe they've got it so, so wrong. First you have the 'rockers' tour of:
The Automatic The View The Horrors Mumm-Ra
And the 'ravers' tour of:
Klaxons CSS The Sunshine Underground New Young Pony Club
I mean, do they REALLY expect most of these gimmicks to last? Good luck to 'em I say.

also, didn't the nme backlash against the automatic already happen?
this seems a bit silly.

Mercifully, the 'rock' tour isn't coming to Oxford. The 'rave' one's at Brookes though.
And I am willing to bet ten of the queen's pounds that The Zodiac will not be renamed the Carling Academy Oxford.

i am pretty sure it will be although i think they will wait about 6 months. i mean why buy it if they aren't going to brand it in the same way as all the rest of their clubs?

There are other examples where they haven't named places Academy - Carling Apollo in Manchester for example, and somewhere in London I think.
Depends whether they think the Zodiac has sufficient 'legendary' status or not. If they think it'll work in their favour they'll keep it as the Carling Zodiac.
Looking at the plans though, what with one of the proposed rooms being called the 'Zodiac club' and another the 'Main venue' or something, I suspect they will go for Carling Academy Oxford, and keep the Zodiac name going in some token way.
I'd quite like to see CSS (especially) and NYPC but am hesitant about buying tickets for anything called the 'NME Indie Rave tour.' I mean FFS, what?

Interesting venue. I might go.
Other news: Tilly and the Wall and Patrick Wolf are both at the Zodiac AGAIN next term. Not exactly complaining, but a bit more variety might be good...

Also! WTF (as they say) are Cursive doing supporting Forward Russia? That is a very strange little line up and I might just be tempted...

is it bad that i want to go to the new rave one? CSS are fantastic That's only because CSS aren't new rave, they're lovely. I don't know if I'd want to go to see 20 minutes of lovely and 2 hours of ARGH though.
