So I was berated (possibly not actually berated, possibly just spoken to quite nicely) last night for not spending enough of my time on these here wonder-boards, which I suppose is reasonable as although I stalk you all silently on here for moderation purposes I dont actually say much... no, I just spend my time avoiding my dissertation reading web comics! So, can anyone recommend any wonderous webcomics? My personal favourites would be the mighty Questionable Content, the D&D geekery of Order of the Stick and of course Diesel SweetiesI can recommend them highly... So people, join me in my geekery... webcomic me darnit, webcomic me!

I'm a big fan of White Ninja, though the comics can be a bit hit or miss sometimes. Cyanide and Happiness also steals a lot of my time, but that's usually just plain offensive. Of course there's also the old Ctrl+Alt+Del comics, but those got *so* bad when they started getting long storylines and not even trying to be funny that I just kinda get teary-eyed when I nostalgically read the archives these days.

Diesel Sweeties, Questionable Content, good start. I agree, Ctrl-Alt-Del has always been Penny Arcade's poor cousin in my view... anyway. Some faves: Sam and Fuzzy, B&W art, massive arcs to frolic through, and consistently funny, well paced storylines: www.samandfuzzy.comScaryGoRound: www.scarygoround.com. Probably my favourite comic, due to it being so purdy and having an overall level of very English silliness to factor 10. I have a picture of Jarvis Cocker drawn by the fabul-ass mister John Allison, such is my geekery. Another ninja based one (good call on white ninja btw): www.drmcninja.comSomething Positive: www.somethingpositive.net. Look at the very first comic. If this makes you laugh, this comic is for you. LOVE IT. Patches: www.hingos.com/patches. Hamsters. Overcompensating: www.wigu.com/overcompensating/ This man is in part, responsible for the success of Snakes on a Plane. But don't hold it against him. www.elsiehooper.com <--- B&W, horror, gore, zombie-things, has an action scene which lasts for about 30 comics. Nice. www.alessonislearned.com if you're feeling surreal today. Self-immolation anyone? faith.rydia.net/ <--- Demonology 101, 'an online comic about high school and other forces of evil', bit like Buffy, but less vampires and more demons. www.boasas.com/ Essential. www.stuffsucks.com/ <--- Liz Greenfield is awesome, her comic concerns mainly music-based stuff, so anyone on here new to comics could start here... Blimey, that's quite few, isn't it? = ]

Generally speaking I hate webcomics (especially those dinosaur ones....am I missing something spectacular here?), but www.pbfcomics.com/ occasionally raise a smile.

Webcomics are amazing. Especially when you have lots of free time. I don't know what the appeal is...
I likes the Perry Bible Fellowship.
I also likes those Diesel flavoured sweeties, Sam and the Fuzzy bear, the patches bear, and The White Ninja on his good days. Boy On a Stick and Slither is similar in its hit and miss-y ness. Something Positive and ScaryGoRound are also very very beautiful.
I'd start Something Positive and ScaryGoRound from the beginning, and Sam and Fuzzy from where the reader's guide recommends (http://www.samandfuzzy.com/guide.php).
Dr. McNinja (http://www.drmcninja.com/) combines the day-to-day thrills of working in a doctor's surgery in a haunted forest with ninja excitement. It's also arranged in tasty story-sized chunks.
Sinfest (http://www.sinfest.net/) is a great comic, and is more single strip based than story based. Which is good, sometimes.
I also likes Girly (http://www.go-girly.com/) as it involves Lesbians, rockets, and battles with dangerous elephants.
I did like QC, but I've found the indie angst contained within gets tiresome very, very, quickly. Boy likes girl, girl, boy pines for girl, girl can't make her mind up, boy gets bored and goes out with girl no.2, girl no.1 then feels hard done by. It's taken 700 strips to tell that story. (Although I still can't stop reading it...) Plus, jokes about obscure indie bands should be left for pub situations and Imsoc message boards, not webcomics.

I used to like Beaver and Steve, but then I got bored of it. This is why you won't get a link.

Ah yes I do have scarygoround, dinosaur comics, Silent Kimbly and Savage Chicken's Rss'd straight to my livejournal... along with Indie Tits and Penny Arcade, I do read Mr White Ninja regularly, but never got into Dr Ninja, Stuff Sucks or Girly. Beaver and Steveis also worth a quick peek, although can get tiresome I loves the QC (to the point where I hate the weekends for their lack of updates) but it does go rather slowly and rather predictably, but I still loves it. Sexy losers was also kind of entertaining in its own pornographic way, but also gross in its own pornographic way.

wow, you've covered an awful lot of ground here i, being so punk, am a big fan of the sadly defunct nothing nice to say. lots of music-y in-jokes, so if you went through a punk phase (or still are doing so) there'll be in-jokes you'll enjoy.

I've never really been into webcomics, but I've seen Cyanide and Happiness before, and I think it's great. I'm more into animations and vids, though I'm not into many series. Salad Fingers is great though.

Okay, so you claim geekery, and yet have not mentioned the mighty xkcd? For shame. 140 and 134 and 114 and 70 are particularly good. I have very little else to add... Oh, actually, Jerkcity is awesome, but in no way safe for work.

Webcomic geekery is different to general geekery... like geography geekery. Other than that, excellent point.

I found this on my comp, dunno where it came from, but I thought I'd share it: If anyone recognises it or the style, let me know.
