i bought some aether album or other for 2€99. i seem to remember not liking aether that much, but in my youth i bought an embrace album for £3 which pretty much justifies any other purchase i make on or below that price. i also got the mum peel sessions cd for 5€. i got the decemberists new album FREE (from gina, as part of my birthday) and finallyseeing how i THOUGHT i'd saved loads and loads of money, i treated myself to a shiny new album and bought beast moans by swan lake. alas, i now feel like i have WAY overspent.
i wish i worked in a library.

Strangely enough, I too bought Beast Moans today, and later realised it was a hideous overspend of money that should have gone towards other people's christmas presents.
hmm.

Goldfrapp - Supernature, £3. Damn you, Fopp, for making me buy things I only half-want.

This now also includes Christmas acquisitions.
hence:
-Eels - Electro-shock Blues (as my Eels albums seem to be cursed) -Swan Lake - Beast Moans :D -Pendulum - Hold Your Colour (there's a very perceptive quote by a reviewer on the front of the CD that says "Pendulum have created the drum 'n' bass equivalent of stadium rock") -She Wants Revenge - She Wants revenge (my brother was trying to buy me some Shins, but missed, and then didn't realise until he got home)

-Pendulum - Hold Your Colour (there's a very perceptive quote by a reviewer on the front of the CD that says "Pendulum have created the drum 'n' bass equivalent of stadium rock") more like "pendulum are to DnB as evanescence are to goth" :P i was in fnac today (french people call their record stores funny things) and i saw a blood brothers 12" for about 4 euros. i bought it. i'm not currently in possession of any vinyl decks so i may well have play it for the first time, blind, at the next vertigo; i'm not, however, convinced it's the blood brothers we all know and love... x

My Christams acquisitions are:
Squarepusher- Hello Everything Kind of cheesy in a nice way. Not nearly as crazy or harsh as some of his stuff, but still very good. Tom Waits- Orphans My first Tom Waits CD, I've only listened to the first CD first but I liked it.
I got a fair amount of money too, so I'm going to go shopping tomorrow, and could come home with quite a lot.

My xmas acquistions are
Pulp - the Peel Sessions Nick Cave - B-sides & rarities CD86 compilation
I am very pleased with them all but for some reason have spent most of the post-xmas period listening to Suede so I can't comment on the merits of any of them.
I like brandy though.

xmas additions:
Muse - Black Holes & Revelations and an HMV voucher
I couldn't believe how long it took to dictate the album name over the phone to my mother.

Yeah it's his first album since Ultravisitor, though he might have released a single since then, I'm not sure. Ultravisitor is great, I reckon it's probably better than Hello Everything, because of tracks like Steinbolt, Tetra-Sync and Iambic 9 Poetry.

Christmas additions:
Howling Bells - s/t (not bad, few awesome songs) Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Show Your Bones (initially disappointing) Tool - Lateralus (already knew it was great, just never had a hard copy) Deftones - Saturday Night Wrist (bought for my brother as a present for me really, it's fucking incredible, one of the best albums this year by quite a way)
